Questions and Answers / Successful Bidders

As of this post, there is 175 members listed. 

I'm kind of curious how many have been successful at winning a tender/auction.  I've bid on a few properties, but haven't been close.  Looking for as much detail as possible (what area of the province, was it vacant land or had a house on it, was the house vacant or was somebody living in it, etc).

I agree with Common.  Last year when the City of Windsor had their tax sale, a property listed on Riverside Drive had a large Income Tax Lien on the property (I can't remember the exact value, but it was more than the house was worth).  I found this out at the land title office, but in the end the property was redeemed.

This is my biggest concern of purchasing a property at a tax sale.  What do most people do in regards to the former owners.  Do they throw them out on the street, or try to rent the house to that person?  If I was to throw them out, do they normally trash the place before they leave (as I would have to estimate a repair cost before I bid on the property).  A lot of the properties I have been interested in bidding on, appear to be occupied.  Any comments on this concern would be appreciated.

How much, on average, would someone be willing to bid on a property?  Would a bid of 70% of the estimated "appraised" value be acceptable?
