Re: The 2 Vacant Land Properties

Since we are looking for a piece of land just to play on and enjoy nature, I think one of these EC properties might be of interest to us.

On EC land, can I build a VERY small "hunting cabin" without permits?

What would the taxes be on something like these places be?

Thanks, Sandra

Thank you everyone and MERRY CHRISTMAS.....Happy Festivus!

I think I'll keep looking.  I'd like something about 2 hours from home [Mississauga].  Cabin, water near by, 3 acres-ish, minimum comfort, but maximum get-away for my family.  Thanks!  Sandra

Thank you for your replies.

The land I'm considering does have a small insulated building on it....only about 10x20, one room.  Good enough to stay and play and enjoy nature.  The agent said that there is a lot of low land.  It's about a 3 hour drive from my home.  I like the price.

Truly a good consideration!  Thanks, Sandra

Hi ~ I'm looking at a SMALL spot of land, under an acre for $15K, with a little stream running thru it.  It's surrounded by conservation land.  Is there a benefit in such land?  Thanks, Sandra

Thanks.  I've been looking up mls properties for a while now.  I've seen three in the last month.  It's a good education.  I'm now looking at one north of Belleville.  I hope to visit it soon.  I'd like to see it in the spring, but it might sell before then.  Thanks all!  Sandra

Hi ~ I'm new and have a question.  What happens if no one bids on a sales tax property?  Can you go to the township and make an offer for the minimum bid any time after the deadline?  Thanks, Sandra

Hello ~ We are a middle aged couple who work hard, are debt free, modest savings and look forward to retiring in about 15 years.  We would like to purchase land for family recreation, conservation and investment so we can have a comfy retirement.  I've been reading loads of posts and am getting educating about buying sales tax property.

What should I do next?  Should I subscibe to any websites?  What about MPAC?  Thanks!  Sandra
