Property tax sale
Each year properties with more than 3 years outstanding tax arrears are offered for sale by The City of Calgary, in accordance with the Municipal Government Act, Chapter M-26 RSA 2000, Part 10, Division 8.

2016 Property tax sale

Date: Thursday, April 14, 2016
Time: 10 a.m.
Location: Calgary Power Reception Hall, 700 Macleod Trail S.E.

The list has 220 properties for sale as of today.
It is updated everyday until the day of auction.

Edmonton's list will be available in late March.
As our beloved friend Dave has indicated before, maybe it is time to seriously look into Alberta.

They have reserves, so I am not sure if there is room for profit (especially given current not-so-good housing market situation in there). Otherwise house like this starting at $21k could be a steal.  ;)

Good thing about their taxsale is, there is no redemption once a property is declared "sold".
