I'm thinking of putting in a bid on the Strathroy property, and am new to the tax sale process. The current owners are living in the house, so what happens if I'm the successful bidder? I'm not crazy about the idea of kicking people out of their own home, but my understanding is the municipality is going to get the property anyway if no one bids.

I'm guessing I then have to hire a bailiff to evict them from the property? Do they have any squatter's rights? And what happens to their mortgage?

I'd appreciate any insight any of you can offer so I don't go into this naively and lose a lot of money that I can't afford to lose.

If a property is still occupied by the owner when it's up for tax sale, chances are it'll be redeemed, so is this one as we speak.

If a property does get sold and the owner still occupies it, there are some other good discussions about it on this board, such as this one
